Toyota built a great car and its too bad they got out of sports cars cause back in 1997 when they had the Supra, Porsche only had the 993....
I hope to see some great stuff come out of toyota in the near future... on par with porsche that is given they have an advanced formula 1 program.

What's all this talk 'bout a Modded Supra beating a Stock Carrera...
Lets talk Apples Vs Apples here...
What about a Modded Supra + a Modded Carrera - pref. SC'ed or a RUF Special TT

ZXR,
I agree if your going to talk mod'd cars it should be apples to apples. This is like the SuperCharged 996 vs. stock 996 TT discussions. Yea a SC 996 can take a stock turbo(It's light with the same HP), but with a $1000 chip the turbo can blow it completely away and with more $$$ it has more potential, what does Sharky have in his Automatic turbo 700+ rwhp or something like that.
Also I like ducky's article he posted, Wasn't 1995 the "pig" year for the carera, didn't they change the cam design or something for 1996 because it was a dog. I know the 1997-1998 are the more desirable 993's isn't this one of the reasons.
Also I really don't trust magazine times, but we've all had that discussion before(2005 Carrera 997S as fast as a 2005 GT3, what BS)
Ducky, I'm in my 30's though my wife says I act about 12, if even that and she claims to be raising 2 kids my son and I. Which is pretty good since my mom told me I perpetially acted about 5 growing up. Since my real hobby is stereos and Home theater my wife is constantly yelling at me to lower the volume, as she says my crestron is perm attached to my body(it's not really too damn heavy)
Ok car stuff, I got my first porsche at 17, a brand spaking new yellow 930(911 turbo) slant nose. At 18, I added my dad's old 924 to my collection(yellow also and I still own as a track car), he was a Ferrari guy and hated porsche's. (You think we sounded harsh in the beginning check out a ferrari board.) Then I got a metallic red boxster (looked like a blood red called orient red) in my 30's and about a year and a half ago I fell in love with a new Midnight blue 996 Carrera at my Porsche dealer when I went in to get my wife's audi an oil change(they are a porsche/audi dealer) and treated myself to an early birthday gift with a new car (about 2 days early). I just loved the way it changed from black to blue depending on the light. I also always had other cars to drive to college and the LIRR, a 1992 Nissan altima, Toyota truck, and VW passat/Jetta. All of them are gone now including the boxster, which I do miss, but onto bigger and better things. Did I mention I'm getting a Cayenne 'S', it's on order and I can't wait.....
Oh and the LIRR reference, I'm orig from Eastern Long Island

Ducky,
The Spanish word "Mierda" means "Sh*t" and "Comer" means "eater", obviously it's an insult and a tit-for-tat to the genius and ever-so-impressive PMac.
PMac -- putting foreign language into this doesn't take a genius, you're right about that, but understanding what one is talking about does. As wrong as I was, and I was WRONG, you're little pathetic statement after things were settled did not seem to consider how this got started in the first place. So are readers to be impressed with this? NO. I understand they want this to go away. You seem to want to match wits, but then you would just go out and "copy and paste" again wouldn't you. How's "mental midget" for you. READ Fella.

I just wrote a whole bunch of mean (but quite funny, I thought at the time) stuff aimed at you, then I wrote the next paragraph, and had a change of heart, so I deleted it.

OK, here's an olive branch. We clearly had a misunderstanding over this whole business. My first post was pretty scathing, on account of how people were treating Ducky. I deliberately didn't name names, because I wasn't looking to get in a flame war. I genuinely wasn't mad at you. Then you got huffy, and I got huffy, so it's my turn to man up and apologize for my style. It's my nature to respond somewhat mockingly when I'm being attacked, but that doesn't make it right, so I'm sorry.
Let's start over...
Hi, I'm Paul, and it's been 3 minutes since my last outburst.

you sure about the auto being 4-speed... I was absolutely positive it was a 6-speed automatic... I think the older <93 supra had the 4-speed....
we drove an 6-speed auto supra (1995) and it was fast as hell...very composed and amazing grip.... what a car... the auto was faster in the quarter mile cause the engine management system kept boost up in between shifts!... in either case that car is a beast and fast as hell... very composed at high speed.. the article you posted was dead on. 993 carrera or ZR-1 was no match for the Supra TT.
They need to build a next gen supra.. something around 400HP stock... Toyota builds great cars and their quality is second to none.

PMac - Peace Bro. The competitor in me and nature of this Cubano! Damn, I feel like ****. OK. I've learned my lesson BIG TIME. Okay, this is off subject, but reference to the "Contender". Man, I love that show. As a former amatuer boxer myself, I can't get enough of that show. Both 2 weeks have been super with the West taking on guys that at first glance seemed to be superior only to turn it around and win. Got to love that stuff man.
Anyway, I'm done with flames! I'm going to post pics of my 996 as soon as my Ruf Aero kit goes on and my 19" IForge. Now if only Spring would come to Minnesota I'll get that going. Just put the H&Rs on the day before yesterday and way too cool. I've read the threads for a while about them and decided to go with the standard shocks since I'm not going to track it. No problem what so ever with the ride, in fact I like it even better than stock. The ride height is really neat too. I'll just drive the A4 if it dumps snow, but I fear that the will not be driven much.

Hey Carlos! No, I had them already and called Tire Rack and they said I could return them and I considered purchasing the coilovers like yours. But then I spoke with a guy here at a local Ruf shop that had the H&R Springs and it looked just about right for me. Seeing it in person was a little different than the pictures on the forum. Actually it lowered it very nicely, although I still like the look of yours better, although that would concern me a little with the Ruf mods that I want and damaging the front. Can't wait to get that done!

Hey, just be happy I didn't compare you to the Simple Life.
Yup, I'm positive that every automatic equipped MKIV turbo supra from toyota has 4 gears. Only the turbo MT has 6 gears.

You've got a nice history of car collection! I so envy people whos fathers show interest in cars. My dad is just....always against everything I do on my car. He liked it best when it was stock. Man, a porsche at 17? Must've been fun with a car like that!
I got my supra when I was 18 years old. I remember screaming so loud in happiness that my whole block opened their windows and congratulated me. Then, I got a POS 1999 Daewoo Lanos as a beater and that didnt last long..Then I got myself a motorcycle last year at 21 years of age. So as of now, I got a supra, a 600rr, and a 92 g20 which my freind lets me use as a daily. I gotta finish school and make a lot of money and a porsche will come.
one day!
