Tire Recommendations

Need some advice for the best tire for my 2003 Coupe. Has 18's that are currently riding on Continental Sport Contact2's. Almost time for a new set but not sure about replacing with same or Pirelli's or Bridgestones or Michelins or any number of others on the market. I'm in San Antone so no real cold weather. What do you veterans recommend???

If you plan on doing a few autocross/track days a year and want the best performance, go with Yoko AD08 but will cost $1200+. If it is for street driving only and if you want to save some $, Hankook V12 $700ish works well.

Based on my research and for the money, my next set is either Hankook or the Sumis.

+1 for the Hankooks.

I switched to them from the Michelin PS2s about 2000 miles ago for my 996 cab weekend driver (spirited touring, no track days) based on reported performance, price and tire life. I have not regretted this change for one nanosecond: performance meets my needs and the $600 I didn't spend on Michelins buys a lot of gasoline. Too early to tell on tire life.

+1 on Yoko AD08. But it is a summer tire, not all season, if I remember.

I used Pirelli P-Zeros for years, and I don't think I'll buy them again. The balance between performance and tread life isn't good with this tire. I'm currently running the Sumitomo HTR-ZIII. For the money, it's hard to beat. That being said, if money isn't an issue, I'd go with the Continentals. I've always been happy with their products.

Hankook has been the most popular ticket V-12 and I would say they have the best bang for your buck..... buy them now before they start charging more for them...

Michelin PS2 N rating is the answer to your question. It will give you better performance for the life of the tire & as long as they are properly maintained you will love them.

I have the Hankook V12 on my Turbo and they're a good tire. You lose very little in terms of grip and gain a good amount of treadwear.

Michelin makes a great tire at a cost of around $1700-1800 per set on the 911, Hankook makes the V-12 for a modest $775-900 on the same set. You'll also gain more miles out of the Hankooks.

I am switching from P-Zero Rosso to the Hankooks on Saturday. The price is around $800 for a complete set of 18's installed (Atlanta area).

Appreciate your sage advice. One thing is apparent - don't buy the Pirelli's and at what they cost for a set of 18s I'm glad. Thanks mucho.

$ 1200. For my PS2s installed Kwik Tire Costa Mesa on Harbor blvd. 225/40/18 & 265/35/18. Accept no substitute!
