19"x11" Wheels on a 1999 C2

Hi everyone,
I just bought a 1999 Carrera and I wanted to put some different wheels on it so I ordered these.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2011-PORSCHE-19-WHEELS-RIMS-FIT-911-996-997-1985-19X11-/270702016026?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories &hash=item3f0718f61a

I put them on the car and in the rear they stick out about 5/8 of an inch on both sides. I really like the way they look on the car other than the low rider effect I'm getting in the back. Does anyone know a way to make 11" wide wheels fit on this car? I cant machine the wheels down theres just not enough metal there to be able to take some off without ruining the structural integrity of the wheel. If its a mission impossible any suggestions on where I can find this same wheel in 19x10?

Thanks for any help

et52 is just too aggressive. the oem offset is et65. there is nothing you can do but return them. FYI, the fronts are wrong as well and will requires spacers (I think)

The recommended max for an 11" wide wheel is an offset of 63mm for a narrow body. The ones you bought are for the wide bodies. The fronts are ok but may benefit with a spacer.

those wheels appear to be techart formula knockoffs.
the fitman you got is for 997 WB.
it may be easier to just get a pair of either real or knock off techarts in the correct NB fitment.

however, it can be made to fit a 996 NB mk2, and possibly a 996 NB mk1.
for example, I have a rear 18x11 et 51 on my mk2 996 NB and it clears the fender on compression.
for the rears: a combination of aggressive camber, skinny tires, rolling the fender lip, and machining an extra mm of offset all can make this possible
for the fronts: a 7mm spacer will bring you back close to stock offset (et50), but a more aggressive spacer would match the appearance in the rear.

Most 11's for the 996 are between 68-60 offset. You can run a 295-315 tire easily without and aggressive alignment.

If you run the high end of the spec, you can run the 315 with no worries and if you want, use a very thin spacer (3-5mm) to get the wheel/tire to sit right where you want.

Cheers

The lower the offset number the farther out the wheels sit. And adding spacers further lowers the offset number moving the wheels further out. With a 52 offset in the rear and 11" width I don't think you are ever going to get those rears to work without modifying the body way beyond rolling the fenders (which I have done on my car). They are just the wrong wheels for your car, a mistake made by many NB owners. If you have a WB and by NB wheels you can use spacers to solve the problem, but this won't make WB wheels fit a NB.

like everyone stated above, you don't necessarily need to go to a 10, you just need the correct offset for a 11 inch rim. an offset around 65 is a good start, and if it doesn't come out to the fender to your taste then use some spacers. For example, I have some 19x12 65mm offset on my 4s (widebody) spaced with 20mm spacers that would probably fit a narrow body without spacers.

All you have to do to make those work is:

1. Get coilovers and slam your car. This will give you negative camber.
2. Roll your fenders.

Done.

I find the link or Ebay ad a bit misleading. Fits 996 etc. If you follow your link to the Uberwheel store, you will find an identical rim design in black with a chart that clearly indicates that the rims do not fit a 996 C2. ( http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2006-...s#ht_869wt_937 ) Had they placed this addition to your original link, you may have thought twice about the purchase. Though the rims do fit (or should we say mount) a 996 C2, they do not fit optimally. I currently have 19X10 et 52 on the rear of my 996 C2, and they do stick out about 1/4". I can live with it. Actually, I kinda like the look. Aggressive. Sticky out 3/4" is another story. Either keep them, sell them or attempt to return them (a restock loss fee). And, needless to say, research before purchase the next time. Good luck.

I was very worried reading this thread, and numerous others because like you, I purchased 19x11 rears with 52 offset.

I initially fitted them and they stuck out a bit, but the more concerning part was how much higher off the ground the car was/looked. It was embarrassing!

I took them back off and ordered H&R Coil Overs.

My local Porsche dealer fitted the coil overs and wheels last week and they, as advertised, fit perfectly.

The rears are running 2 degrees of negative camber so the tyre wear won’t be too horrible.

The handling difference in itself is worth doing height adjustable coil overs alone. The 996 feels light in the front end compared to the 997….not anymore. Coil overs make a world of difference.

Don’t worry about all of the threads saying that there is no way that 52 offset 19x11 rear will work with a narrow body….they will.

Note: None of the 4 fenders needed any rolling or any modification whatsoever. It was “a very simple job” according to my Porsche dealer.

Pics attached – good luck!

And that's acceptable on a car that's meant to drive comfortably, at high speed? Not only not safe but unwise.

Nothing that a little bit of fender rolling won't fix.

Very true. Something (IMO) that I would do prior to driving. That would look great.
