EVOMS Intake Installation Problems

Has anyone else had problems installing this thing on their car? I thought it would be a simple enough process, and I'm not a total noob when it comes to doing DIY work...... The thing doesn't fit properly (has a gap near the air inlet), has missing hardware, and the installation instructions on the EVOMS website are for a 997 and don't show you how to install the brackets and hardware that aren't pictured.

I'm about to throw this thing back in the box and ship it back. Am I missing something here? Can anyone else chime in?

i have the intake as well and the install was easy.My case i have to little adjust the plenum position fit the inlet tube perfect.
I recomend first conect everything before you attach the intake to the frame with the 13 mm bolt.
Do you have the relocating bracket included?
I would say the fit is 8/10 but these are aftermarket products so give a little close eye on fitment.

Hmm.... Ok, I have the relocation bracket, but have no idea where it goes. The directions on there website don't show it lol. Are there any guides online? I found this thread: (http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforum...u-upgrade.html) but there are no pics......

I also thought something was missing when I installed mine.

But, the thing actually only needs the one attachment in the middle (one screw to the original airbox attachment point) in addition to airtube.

I ended up:

1) loose fitting the middle attachement screw
2) loose fitting the airtube
3) adjust the airtube so that the inlet snorkel fits the plastic air duct in the engine lid.
4) tighten the airtube fitment, then tighten the middle attachment screw

Remember that since the inlet snorkel fits around the plastic air duct in the engine lid, instead of inside it like the OEM airbox, exact fitment will not be essential. My intake snorkel seemed to hit the plastic air duct 1/2 an inch to the right. However, due to the much bigger intake snorkel of the EVOMS compared to the OEM, I do not think this will impede performance much.

evoms bracket

not sure if this is the question but- i have 2002 996 3.6 and previously had EVOMS CAI on car
-on the 996 the relocation bracket goes on the air pump to move it more to the left a bit so the EVOMS CAI doesn't hit it- I believe this bracket is not needed on the 997 but may be wrong.
to install bracket-unplug the wire to air pump- take off old bracket off car with air pump attached and install new bracket onto air pump and reinstall in car- you'll see the pump is now more outward toward fender than before which allows CAI to fit properly. if you try to install the CAI without moving the air pump it won't fit correctly on the 996 as it will hit the pump and/or bracket and not allow it to line up correctly. hope this helps.

Hey, thanks for following up. I got everything installed and surprisingly it fits well. The air inlets line up perfect, and nothing rubs or scrapes. It's kind of odd because my kit came with the relocator bracket for the secondary air pump, but the holes on the new bracket didn't line up with the holes on the air pump. It looks like the holes on the bracket were made for a smaller air pump from a different year. Anyways, I didn't end up needing the bracket......

As luck would have it, when I went to start my car, the battery was dead because I left the engine bay open for too long...... I'm too lazy to jump start it so I'm waiting for my new batter to arrive lol. I'll report back after I take it out for a spin.

Does anybody know where I can buy the relocation bracket? I bought a used CAI that didn't come with the relocation bracket. I understand the relocation bracket it not required on 997's. If anybody has one sitting around, I'm willing to buy it from you.

Diablo, do you still happen to still have it? Since you didn't use yours?
