2004 Porsche 911 carrera vs 2008 M3
My 2004 Porsche 911 carrera with Fabspeed Maxflo mufflers, 18 inch HRE racing alloy rims, Sachs racing clutch, and short shift kit vs a stock 2008 BMW m3 with the 6 speed manual transmission. What do you guys think? BTW 1st post!
I came from the BMW world. You have no choice. In the straight line it will eat you alive. It has about 100 more horses and it is in 996 turbo territory. Sorry.

Straight line your going to lose badly. In a road course it'll be a close fight. On a very tight autox you may have a fighting chance. 08 M3's are actually a good car and they have as many mods available to them as we do if not more.
I would say they are fairly close in the corners. But if you want to drive a sedan on the track thats fine go with bimmer. The porsche is a porsche and the bmw is another 2 or 4 door sedan rolling down the road. To me a "sports" car has to be two door rear wheel drive and have no purpose other than to look good and create quick lap times. I cannot be practical, this would mean the engineers thought of use other than performance. To me there are very few cars that are true sports cars.
Although the 911 is not as raw as once was it still is a sports car in a sense. To me a sedan will never have a true sports car feel, due to its size and awkaward body lines, no matter how well it performs.
You just have to ask yourself what do you prefer.
