EVOMS intake = CEL = booooo!!
EVOMS intake = CEL = booooo!!
So after waiting through a month-long backorder, my EVOMS intake arrived last week. Obviously I was really excited to get it installed and did so this Saturday. I drove it around a bit over the weekend to get a feel for it, nothing major, just some light tooling around town. When I first fired it up after installing it, there was a light stuttering in the revs but I figured it was because the vacuum pressure was all of a sudden different. I've had other cars do this after a new intake too. I noticed a distinctly new sound on top of the exhaust note so it's a nice audible addition. Throttle response is crisper in 2nd and 3rd gears also.
I decided to take the 4S to work today since the weather's been really nice but on the way home, the check engine light came on. I was bummed. One of the main reasons I went with the EVOMS intake was because of the dry air filter. But I knew going in that there could still be the possibility that I'd run into issues. I checked to make sure everything was still buttoned up tight too.
If anyone's out there that's been through this, I'd be really interested in hearing your experiences. Especially if you figured out how to fix it. I'm not looking for a diagnosis (I'm gonna try to hit up my mechanic buddy this weekend to read the codes), just looking for stories so I have a rough idea of what I'm getting into. And hoping that I don't have to go back to the stock airbox.
Car:
2004 C4S
45k miles total, ~130 miles before the CEL came on
No other mods other than Speedtech mufflers.

IF you had an courtesy to a vendor with a great rep you would have emailed them first before posting this thread.. because it can end up being something you hooked up wrong or something with your car, so just incase thats what it is, instead of making a thread like this, email the vendor first..just me 2 cents, not being an ***!
I didn't go to them first because I don't think it's their product that's at fault. I've also done enough DIY stuff in my time to know when something's hooked up wrong. All I'm looking for is to hear some first hand experiences and get an idea of what's wrong with my car.
Well im not really sure why your CEL is on with this intake as it is, like you said, a dry filter. I have the same intake on my car and I had no problems with it. How did you handle the MAF when you were uninstalling/installing the old and new intakes? I put a ziploc bag around mind so nothing would get on it. Perhaps you got something on it?
As far as my impressions with the product, I love it. It sounds great (alot of people say it sounds like it has a turbo on it... ha I wish) and it definitely feels like it pulls harder/more evenly throughout the power band

also check that the plug to the air pump is pushed all the way in- when i installed EVOMS CAI , my light came on awhile after install and i found that
the air pump plug had come loose- it wasn't obvious when looking cause it's at bottom of pump on my 02 996 C2. hope this helps.

The air pump plug wiggled loose. Error codes were P0491 and P0492.
On Renntech, I found these faults based on those codes:
- Electrical fault in power supply or line between relay and secondary air injection pump
- Secondary air injection pump relay mechanically faulty
- Mechanical fault in electrical secondary air valve
- Pneumatic secondary air valve faulty/sluggish
- Electrical fault in secondary air injection pump
- Mechanical fault in secondary air injection pump or secondary air injection pump blocked
- Vacuum system leaking
- Air hose to secondary air injection pump slipped off or constricted
Looked in the engine bay and the power connector to the air pump backed out.
Major "D'OH!!!"
