New Clutch

I'm 95% sure I need a new clutch for my 2000 C2. Does anyone know a better clutch that I could use besides oem, and do you know how much it should be for the install? Also does anyone know any good shops in or around Charlotte, NC?

Thanks in advance!

Oem clutch kit runs you around $650 + labor to install. Depending on your shop 1000-1200 including the clutch. Estimate ofcourse

I just put in a new OEM clutch and some other odds and ends.

I would also budget LN IMS bearing retrofit and New RMS during the clutch job. Rennlist may have sources for a shop in Charlotte.

Spec is the sponsor for the 996 forum, They have many different options depending on your intentions for the car and the feel you want out of it.

I also found it for that price, but I was thinking about getting something a little better. For now evoms is out of my price range. I contacted zoom or precision performance who makes race clutches, but they said they didn't really have anything good for the 996. I'm kinda looking for a performance clutch I guess, just not too high on the price like evoms.

The big variable is the flywheel. The costs quoted for clutch kits does not include the flywheel. I you need one the list is $1,199.80, discount for $913.41. You you can get them for less then that.

never changed my Flywheel on any of my cars... it is not required to do a clutch job...

its like changing your wheel when you change your tires...

just had the job done.
standard clutch, from many sites, $465, is good enough.
as recommended, i also did the IMS LN engineering upgrade. Turns out the OEM one, at 89k mi, looked perfectly good. so you pays (or not) you money and takes your chances
labor for the job was $1700.
