Window in cab

I am looking for a lapis blue 996 cab and can't remember which years have the plastic windows. Does anyone recall when they stopped using the plastic rear window? Thanks

1999-2001 all have the plastic window. I just had mine replaced with a black tinted plastic window. Looks great.

Could you have replaced it with glass? I am not keen on a plastic window, but if I got a '99-'01 and could replace it with glass I might consider an earlier model.

I think you need a whole new top with the glass.

Don't be afraid of plastic. My 99 held up perfectly with proper maintenance. There are several excellent products on the market (check out products used to maintain aircraft plexiglass windshields) that will keep the plastic ultra clear and provide excellent UV protection. A plastic rear window can last 20+ years if maintained properly.

Glass top will set you back over $1,500 plus install. So, $2k. I almost did it as mine has a plastic window but I agree with 996pilot the plastic window is more than fine.

And the updated glass window is very small like a boxster window. Looks ok though.

I could not find this information - maybe I was looking in the wrong area?

So, if I understand you correctly, just the plastic itself cannot be replaced.

996Pilot and tarzancoe - I am not afraid of plastic - have it in the 20th Anniversary, Limited Edition GT 5.0 Mustang (son's first car). I just think that glass will be quieter and easier to deal with. I needed some guidance as to what years to look for - figured there was no sense in wasting my time on something I did not want.

Easiest, get. 2002 car. It has some other improvements, and it comes with glass window. Bigger engine, cupholders, glove compartment, very slightly updated interior...

I second on '02 up. Let's not forget the slightly updated exterior and no more bug eyes =)
