Question 03 C4S Pre-purchasing questions!?!

New to the forum, and new to Porsche period...

Offered $22k on an 03 911 C4S fully loaded with 80k miles. Looks like if the car passes a PPI on Monday, it will be mine.

Any tips, recommendations, warnings, must-do's, or info I should know before I go through with it???

I am not committed to anything yet, so all your help is definitely welcomed, and will be taken into serious consideration.

Thanks!

Check the tires. Rear will need to be replace every year if you drive daily. The fronts usually need to be replace every other time. Make sure fronts and rear are the same brand.
Make sure you get two keys. A replacement key with cost you $300.
Check all the switches. Ie. windows and sunroof.
Check for jack and tools kit behind the spare. Also make sure you get the wheel lock tool if it has one.
Any engine problems that pop-up during the PPI then I would walk away.

I am pretty sure back tires are a different brand from front ones.. And one of the side mirrors doesn't always move when you press the button to adjust it. Is that a big deal???

Also, besides any major findings during the PPI, what are some other things that I should be cautious over?

Could just be a switch issue. Then again you might need a new mirror. I would point that out to the person doing the PPI and see what the say.

Two different brands of tires can lead to bad things. New tires all around will run $700-$1400 deppending on brands. Get with Damon at Tire Rack to help you make a good choice. A lot of people rum Sumi's for general street driving.

I think it's a pretty good deal, but also the car has 80,400 miles ..

So lets hope it passes a PPI even though the owner has been pushing for me to take the car to get inspected so I can see how great the engine is running.

Hopefully, if everything passes, I should have it at home by Tues. or Wed.

Question

Here's another question I have.

I ran a car fax on it, and everything was clear.
No accidents, plenty of services, bla bla bla..
BUT the car fax reads it is a: 2003 Porsche 911 Carrera 2S/4S REAR WHEEL DRIVE ... The car itself says 4S on the back. The guy says its All wheel drive 4S.

????

Odd, but it's difficult to pass off a C2 as C4S.

Cool

That is way cheap! At that price, you can afford to fix a few things.

Do you have access to the complete maint records? What has been done and when?

Issues to consider......clutch, brakes, RMS, IMS.

Good luck, hope it works out.

Let's see what the PPI finds out next week, but I think at the price I'm getting it I can afford to fix anything minor it has wrong with it.
