coilovers vs. shocks

Hello all,

Well I am in a bit of a "pickle". I have had H&R coilovers on my 2000 996 drop top for about 25K miles now. They are great, however, ride a bit too stiff for me. The roads in MD are getting worse with every day, and I would really love to hear some advice on whether lowering springs/shock combo ride any smoother?

Also will I be able to go as low on springs/shocks combo as I am able to on coilovers?

Does anyone have pics of stock 996 on springs/shocks? preferrably drop top.

... anyone want to trade?

Thanks!

Paul

I have a set of stock shocks and springs for sale with about 25k miles on them. They will soften your ride.

Keep in mind that with both the PSS9's and the PSS10's the real range of adjustability is only 10mm on the front and 5mm on the rear. While they will physically allow you to adjust them more than that, the manual only provides for a 10mm range on the front and 5mm on the rear as shown in these diagrams. These are for a C4 but the C2 range is the same. The issue is that they don't want the travel of the shocks to be outside of a certain range. This is why using the shorter H&R and other springs can cause problems with the stock shocks.

Cool

What are the current spring rates on your coilovers?

Maybe they offer some softer springs?

I know that there were several choices available on my JIC's.

You loose the adjustable dampening with the shocks/springs.

I have no clue. How would I go about finding that out? Where can I find softer springs?

-Thanks,

Sooo.. Back to this. What shock/ spring combo will allow for the most comfortable ride, yet allow me to go low-like this:

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

(my ride height now with the coils)
