This chip looks pretty nice for a NA car. 23hp is a lot for a chip. This seems to be the best mod you can do for a 996 short of FI. Has anyone used this and had similar results?

 

per evo's numbers it's 23 hp WITH their intake. i had my ECU flashed by akkurat and i felt a difference then i added the intake and i felt an even bigger difference. it feels real strong from 4000 rpm and the throttle is crisp. i haven't dynoed it but plan to.

 

I was told the 02 and later 996 could only expect 8 to 10 hp from the flash. True?

 

you should check with todd @ evo. for a while he was offering a money back guarantee for the flash on rennlist (i think?) he still might be able to offer it.

evo's dyno chart shows (w/ 17% drive train loss):

flash + intake
16.6 hp @ the wheels ~ 20 hp @ the crank for the 3.6L
24.4 hp @the wheels ~ 29.4 hp at the crank for the 3.4L

of course YMMV

 

I have both the chip and the intake for my 3.6 996. I was fortunate enough to get one of the very first setups. I can really notice a difference. Throttle response is crisper, noticable difference in power and the sound when coupled with my PSE is intoxicating.

I am a BIG fan of this combo for the NA 996.
