my rear window needs replacing so i went to a shop that specializes in cabs and was told its approx one hour to sew in a new window and a total of approx 11 hours labor to remove and re-install the roof...i cant imagine how long it would take a novice
Honestly, convertible tops are 1 area of vehicle repair I refuse to tackle. You'll really regret it if you try to do it yourself. It's definitely something for experienced people to take on.

I replaced my rear window for around $500..... that's all it takes.
Regarding DIY.. even reputable Indys do not mess around with the convertible tops. I'd suggest you do not try it yourself.

I read the FSM for what is involved. I read the whole section on R&R of the top. It appeared to me to involve back magic, potions and mysticism. I wound up getting a new guarenteed top installed by Rod's Customs in Huntsville, Al for $1650. Its tight as a drum, seals good, looks good, and has a warranty.
