logray, based on your description I don't think the fan is coming on. I have done some extended spirited driving and have never had the fan come on while the vehicle is running or after the vehicle is shut off. A lot of times I just open the hood and and let it "air out" when I park it.

I did some more reading and searching here and Rennlist. It sounds like the best way to test the engine fan is to pull the sensor wire while the ignition key is on. This should start the fan right away. Now is it obvious which wire is the sensor wire and where to pull it from? Or does someone have a picture to reference?

I've very rarely had the bay fan turn on, maybe once driving in 100+ F temps, then idling in a parking lot.

If you have Durametric you can activate it as a drive link.

You could also take a hair dryer or heat gun and blow hot air onto the engine bay temp sensor, it is on top of the intake manifold on the passenger side.

Item 12 in the last picture:

I've read where opening the engine bay is not required with the water cooled car, even cars that are heavily tracked. Better way to cool the car down is run cool air or blow air over the front radiators (such as driving on the highway at low loads or turning on the high speed radiator fans). It won't hurt to open the lid, but it is not air cooled... so shouldn't be necessary.
