If you had it to do again...... HELP
If you had it to do again...... HELP
what do you all buy?
My options are:
1. MK2 996 c2 with lower miles (20-35k)
2. MK2 996 C4S with higher milage (60-70k)
3. 997 C2 with higher milage (60-80k)
I dont really like the front bumper options for MK1 996s so that is what is ruling that out. I am in love with the turbo front end for 996s and the 997 options. I know you can do some swapping of headlights/hood and other parts on the 996 but dont really want to go through that.
Maybe someone could show me a turbo look front bumper for the MK1?
Well, now you know why I am looking at what I am looking at...... so, what do you all choose?
Thanks
James

I'm a little bias but would get #1. It is cheaper to maintain than #2 by a little because the rear tires are slightly less wide (285 vs. 295) and you don't have the four-wheel drive. You will also have less miles which is a big plus.
Main thing is to get a pre-purchase inspection by a reputable place. If the one you get has the original engine or a remanufactured one pre-mid 2006, you should plan to upgrade the IMS bearing. While doing that, also change the clutch pack and RMS.
Have fun shopping!

I considered the same things.
My conclusion was to go with #2.
#3 (with lower miles) was what I would prefer, but is obvious more $ than #2. I wouldn't go #1 just cause I am not a fan of NB, but done right can look good if that's what you want.
They all would do the trick though.

Hell, for a 35k budget, I can get you a WELL sorted '02 C4S with JIC's, new brakes, 90k service done, BOSE, silver on black, for less than 30k.
And I did all the major work, and the suspension. I can tell you it's a great car and in very good shape. PM me if you want, it's in Seattle
But either way, yes a 996 C4S out of those options. Better body and the awd is fun in the wet.
