Newbie from So Cal/Engine Rebuild

Hello all,

New owner here, looking for a So Cal shop to do a rebuild or if possible ( I think the IMS bearing blew up) just do that part of the motor. I am just getting into this project and have been doing some research, but would really appreciate more input... I have read some of the horror stories and do not need that in my families lives, finacially or mentally.
Thanks guys,
D

If you are concerned about mental health, and you think the IMS bearing blew up. The best thing you can do for the car is not run it until it is properly diagnosed. Have it towed to a shop.

Here comes the bad part, if the IMS bearing did blow up, depending on how much collateral damage there was - you are looking at the price of a replacement engine however you look at it.

If you somehow caught the IMS bearing before it blew up, then bearing retrofit costs range anywhere from $600 DIY to $2000 if done by a shop.

Anyways, this is all just "theoretical" until you have someone knowledgeable look at it. It could be something simple.

Thanks Guys, It was shut off right after the sound of a chain bouncing around inside of a tin can started and has not been run again. It will be flat bedded anywhere it gets taken to.
