Who has the Highest Miles on the odo and what oil are you using?

Hello Everyone, I am a newbie with an 2004 C4S. I've been trying to read up on the different types of oils used in 996's. I've read so many different views on what to use ( M1 0w-40, Castrol 5w-40, Motul 5w-40, M1 15w-50, M1 Delvac 5w-40 etc.) I have always said that the "Proof is in the Pudding". Who has the highest milage 996 with original engine and what kind of oil are you using?

Interesting about castrol. There are some on the web that said castrol witj the higher zinc content would actually be better. Thank you for sharing sir.

Some people have said that using a thicker viscosity oil is better for the ims. I believe that even LN Engineering was referring to 5w-40.

Yes, LN does like the 5W-40. Plus, they specifically mention to use the oils with higher concentrations of Zinc and Phos. Sounds like a few have had exceptional luck with the Mobil too / the proof is there. I'm curious if the high mileage porsche had a new IMS bearing too. If not, wow...good job.

Did you do your IMS on your car? That is great...keep up the good work. At those miles I'd 1/2 th miles between your changes at least. Just my .02 as you're doing great on the miles.

My perception from all my reading is that Mobil 1 0-40 is FAR FROM IDEAL for our cars. Seems like the opposite. It has some good and actual results. Anecdotal?? I was actually a little worried because I used Mobil 1 when I did my IMS Guardian because I had 10 qts in my shop. Now, I won't worry (as much). Ha
