After sales warranty

Since the IMS could be an issue, has anyone thought or purchased one of those extended warranties? I had it with my Land rover and it paid off when I needed dealer work.

Got one with my MY03 Cab, 6-spd that I bought in Sept 2011. So far, the warranty has covered replacing both window regulators at $1100 per and a new starter. Warranty cost $3k for 36 month or 36K miles.

Did NOT cover AOS leak, serpentine belt (because it was cracked, not broken), ignition coil (same thing, only cracked). So, it has been a bit frustrating. I have decided to wait and let the part fail (they cover towing). The ignition coil would have been $450, so I am just waiting for the CEL to come on.

Regarding the engine, it covers failure of all lubricated parts, so if the IMS ever goes the warranty covers the new engine.

In just under 3 years, it will be time for a 997.

Who did you get a warranty through? Tried several, and they have not covered older cars. Thanks

Mine is through a company called Protctive. FYi...They have sent out an inspector for every repair and the first response is "not covered". Not the best customer service, but I imagine that is typical.
