I am looking at purchasing a 2001 C4, can someone tell me what kit this is?

Any way to tell if it's an oem kit vs replica?

 

I'm not an expert by any means, but it looks OEM to me. You can take a photo of the options list that is pasted under the front hood and post it here.

 

I'll be going to view the car this week. anything I should look for on the sticker? will it say aero kit on it?

 

It will have your major options on the sticker under the hood. You can print out a code sheet and take it with you. To me it matters little whether it is OEM or a good aftermarket - it looks great. The fit, however, looks to be aftermarket.

All over the web. Google it and you'll find several.

 

I gave the local dealer parts guy my VIN, and he printed me out a sheet that listed all the option codes with explanations of each option.

 

If you're looking at buying that car... I'd take a good hard look (and listen) to it before putting any $$ down.

Dude have you looked at the exhaust system/tips!?
Anyone that lets such a visual part of the his pride and joy look like that and just "lives" with it... I'd be VERY worried about what ya can't see that has not been taken care off.

To check for oem, all the pieces will be Urethane and not fiberglass except the rear wing which is fiberglass. You can tell by feeling on the edges. Look in the front radiator openings and see if the inside is smooth texture.

Also if you open up rear trunk, you will see "made in France" imprinted on the deck lid if it's oem along with various decals.

One thing that looks odd is that the side skirts are from a 02+ model. That raises a red flag unless that car had a very late manufacturing date.

 

I, of course, agree with completely check out the car - But this one is in Canada and northern states and Canada have conditions that are not necessarily the best on under-parts. I wouldn't judge the car by its tips.

 

Car will go through a PPI for sure, wouldn't that pick up any problems?

Getting a copy of the underhood sticker, hopefully that will tell me everything i need to know. VIN decoder doesn't say whether it is early or late 01. Would this classify as an mk2 aero skirt?
