If it helps, I bought the LEDs that have been for sale for years....I got the smoked version because I thought it looked most like the original colour. In all honesty they look crap in the flesh compared with these new ones.

The new ones are obviously meant to be similar to 997 styled lights....so there is some Porsche suited styling involved in them. The other ones just looked so generic and cheap that I honestly took them straight back out and sold them on eBay for 80 bucks less than I paid.

I have had a lot of local comments from people since installing these lights...they look so great in the flesh....you definitely should grab these instead of the other ones.

Looks great especially with the black car.
I am also looking to purchase a pair of these but I am not sure whether to get the red/crystal, red/smoke, or smoke.
I have a silver 996, any suggestions on what you think would look better?

also any thoughts on the LED headlights on Ebay

Yeah, I wonder why the aftermarket lighting is less prevalent for the wide-bodies. Surely it is not only because of the center red strip between the tails. Oh well, as much as I like the modern look, the classic styling still turns heads.

Those look fantastic. I am hating hard right now. 996WB has no LED choices, 996NB now has two.

I think it's just production numbers vs. narrow body cars. Even when you combine turbo and C4S cars, the opportunity for a company to make and sell these lights is limited compared to narrow body cars.

adelaide1981- The Dectanes lights look awesome, they look better than stock or other LEDS.I want to order but a month from Germany and +600.00 shipped seems a bit steep. anyone know of a US supplier? or a group buy? I have a 99 C2 Cab.

Adelaide,

Love the new lights and am looking at buying a set. I have the same wing though and don't want the third brake light to be incongruous with the new lights. Do you have LED bulbs in the wing as well? If so, can you tell me where you got them?

Thanks in advance.

Hi 99 996......is your wing factory Porsche or aftermarket? Mine is factory Porsche and the stop lights are factory LED in the rear wing. It all looks perfect together.... Let me know if you need pics or a vid or something

Adelaide,

Nice call! My wing is factory installed. I just checked, and it does have LED lights in it already. One less issue to deal with!

As previously mentioned, I would be interested in a group buy.

trenddy996,

Love how the headlights look. Do the lightbeams themselves look like high quality factory light or more of the cheap over the top teenage kid aftermarket, burn out your retina lights? If they aren't too conspicuous, I'd definitely be interested.

My other concern with all these LED modules is what to do when one if the LED bulbs burns out. Can they be disassembled so that a single light can be replaced or do you have to buy entire new units?

Hey I think that your headlights look good. Given how clear they are, and the fact that the 997 tails are clear, I would go with the red/clear rears like what I got. If you want anything smoked just go for the option of the smoked reverse light area. I think if the tails are completely smoked they may look a bit average.

Whatever you get I think you will be happy...but after not much deliberation I went with the clear and it was a great decision. I love looking at the 996 from the rear again!

I just installed the other LED tails but I like these better. If anyone is interested in mine they are brand new and work fine. I'll make you a deal, I'm ordering these.
