Question about PCM

I had the PCM fitted on to my C4S (the car came w/o PCM) before taking delivery. Now from what I remember, in the 996 brochure, the NAV info is displayed in the instrument cluster (where the temp, etc. is displayed). But other than the Audio info, I get not NAV info on the console (only on the actual PCM screen).

For you guys whose PCM came as a factory installed option, do you get the NAV info on the instrument cluster?

I remember when I installed the NAV for my Audi, there was some reprogramming to be done in order to have the info displayed on the instrument cluster.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

you can take it to the dealer to get your car to "recognize" the new PCM unit and the instructions will then be displayed in the instrument cluster

Thats what I thought. So my dealer would konw what to do? Or are there specific instructions on how to go about doing that?

For the Audi, I had to get the info of some site, print it out, and they then programmed it.

I was in the same situation and intalled a PCM2 into my 04 996. I have been to the dealer twice and they don't know what I amm talking about.

It is a shame that we know more about the cars than our dealers do.

The software was upgraded to 3.0. It seems to work in all other respects, but I don't see info on the instument cluster. I am not 100% sure that it is possible. I was hoping to sound more sure of myself before I confronted a third visit.

They need to enable PCM2 for the OBC, that's the issue then you will have an option in the OBC to view nav all the time or at turns. It's part of their setup stuff for the PCM.
