Temperature gauge is blinking red. Temp is at around 180-190 (normal temp)

What I did so far.....

- Topped of coolant
- Burped the coolant
- Check the 2 radiator fans (both works)
- Check the engine blower fan (works with bypass connection) Do not know when it should turn on. Does it turn on with the front fans?

It started happening after I got my car from Flintworks shop performed a cam actuator repair which required them to flush the coolant.

Is it drivable if blinking?

What else can cause this problem?

 

I would call Flintworks and ask them as they did the initial work. I have used them for several repairs to my 99 996 and they have stood behind all of their work for me.

Let us know what this is, i've had it once in a drive thru through , but im pretty sure my compartment fan error message came up but , then never came back later..

 

You said that when your temp gauge was blinking but it was in the normal temp, your compartment fan error came on?

So could this be a compartment fan or engine blower fan?

 

Don't drive it and call flintworks as suggested

 

Are you sure that's which light is blinking? Check you manual if you haven't as there are several indicators with the one light. One indicates temperature problem (which it doesn't sound like you had) one is coolant level, one is oil level. I believe that is it. Either way, I've thought it was oil level once and it was coolant level. I had to trouble shoot it with the manual.

thats where mine is pegged...takes a while to get there then stays there. but i dont get a blinking

 

Again, go to your manual. The illumination of that light has several different meanings. Once you've read the manual section you will know the 3 things to check.

 

Your gauge appears normal (~180*). I checked my owner's manual: If the coolant temperature is too high, the warning light comes on... If the coolant level is too low, the warning light comes on...In addition, this warning light flashes to indicate a fault in the engine compartment blower fan. I believe the latter is the culprit. Good luck.

 

There is a temp sensor located on the passenger side intake manifold. If it fell off and is laying in the engine it will set it off bc it is seeing high temps. That will set that light off. Could also be a bad sensor causing it to get set off.

 

Where would that sensor be exactly?

 

Could be a faulty coolant level sensor also. Check the connection.

 

Well guys. To go to Flintworks is about 70 miles/1 hr trip. Is it safe to drive it there? I mean my temp stays at 180-190 the whole time. No sign of over heating. I don't wanna deal with towing.
