Problem with Top on 996 Cab

Hi,
I'm new this is forum and a new 996 owner. Just purchased a 99 996 CAB with 78.xxx miles. I have a issue with my top. every time I close my top the outer edge of my canvas doesn't go in the track and it's ripping my top. Any ideas? I attached a picture

Check fluid level. You may need to flush/bleed it. The motor pushes 2 pins, one in each side, if one is weak the other will pull the top to one side. Consider replacing the motor as well. While you are at it, get a new top.

Open the top about half way, reach in on both sides to find the flexible fabric and spring that came un-done. The weak part should be at either end. I used a zip tie and ducktape which has held for 3 years now. Took 5 minutes.

basically what traderjoe said, except i use small diameter marine elastic cord to replace the spring. the elastic cord is a real pain to put in. there should be 2 small "key rings" on the end of the cloth tabs. Also you will have to shorten the cloth tabs by tieing knots in it. the termination of the elastic is thicker then then the original spring so it will not pull in the center tube.

That is the center tube removed and the spring out. if you remove the 3 torx screws holding it in and make a replacement spring out of elastic that is slightly longer then the tube with eyes in the ends and "key rings", then attach one side with the "key ring" to the cloth tab. the other side you will want 2 small key rings...you will end up attaching and removing the elastic several times to tie knots in the cloth tabs to shorten

Ah that's a tougher one. You may have to go with needle and thread since thats going to have some pressure on it, mine was about 6 inches from that on the elastic cord area.
