Brake Light question

I've noticed that when I apply pressure to the brakes my rear lights initially light up but when I continue to push down harder on the brakes they do not stay lit. Any guess on what the problem could be ? Maybe the brake light switch is going ?

I have an 03 C2 coupe. thanks.

I'm no mechanic but I would check the brake light switch first. Could be a loose/faulty wire in the switch that loses connection the further you depress the brake pedal. Or it could be shorting. Good luck.

Most likely a brake light switch problem.

thanks for the responses. Is changing the brake light switch an easy job, or should I bring it in to do it ? Anyone know the part number ?

I couldn't say..... I never use the brakes ... . But now I have to go look in the garage to make sure, that if I ever have to use that pedal, mine don't do that.

@Snowball350 Its a pretty simple task as shown in the link. We offer two different brake switch models that would fit your 2003 C2. For more information about the brake switches we offer Click Here.

it worked

getting the brake light switch out was a lot easier than getting it back in, but eventually I got it and it now works perfectly. Thanks all.
