Thanks! You may not know it, but ECS tuning has already supplied parts to kick off this project. Basic -but great looking- stuff for now like the alcantara GT3RS shift ****:

I am afraid you'll have to wait to see
I know where I'll start (BBK, suspension, exhaust, bucket seats and roll cage, etc.) but have no idea where I will finish...

Track wheel set

I'll order a first set of wheels for the track next week. I'll go for something affordable I already bought for the 991: Victor Innsbrucks with R888's. Still do not know if I'll go silver... or black

Cool

I vote black for track.

Much easier to deal with the brake dust.

Good point of course. I came across the attached video that shows a 996 w/black wheels AND the full Fabspeed exhaust system. I took a ride in a 996 equipped with the Fabspeed 996 Performance Package with Comp Intake/ECU Upgrade and it was a big Wow! The car also had a lightweight flywheel. Like someone else said it may not be a lot faster, but it felt and sounded a lot faster and the engine revved up noticeably quicker than on my stock 996. I clearly see this upgrade in my future

BIG week end mods

I now have a BUNCH of parts on order, but it is going to be 2-3 weeks before everything gets delivered. Meanwhile, I'll take care of the 'must do' small stuff. So the big mods of the week end were:

Clear/smoked side markers with chrome bulb:

Front plate delete and the inevitable bumper plugs!

Rear wiper delete... and a bit of weight loss

Since it only takes about 15 minutes to remove the rear wiper and since I already had the plug from Bumperplugs, I did this quick mod this afternoon...

Before:

After:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/60293300@N06/8132907340/
One thing leading to another... I ended up removing the carpet, then the seat belts, followed by the seats, etc...:

The car is now 92.3lbs lighter than this morning, and the engine sound is much louder (which I like a lot ).

Time for a Porsche garage sale!

Took the wheels off today to install a stud conversion kit:

Also got a set of fresh Hankook v12 for street use. Seems to be good value for money based on the first few miles. Much better anyway that the old cracked Pzero's that were on the car:

Black Innsbruck's + R888's on order.

Please keep me apprised on how the V12's perform on the 911. We run them on my wife's M Roadster, which like the 911 use 2 fronts and 4 rears in +/- 24k miles as a typical 'set' of tires, and have been very happy with them. That car does not get pushed very hard but these are probably my favorite set of tires on the car so far. I went with S-04's on the 997s when it needed tires but I am curious how the 996 will take to the V12's.
