whoops didn't notice that post was by alpine...
I just picked up the rennline solid mounts, supposed to be a simple install and improve the shift feel and decrease the mass transfer in the rear... the rennline ones are reasonable priced. Looking at the rest of your mods it just seems natural to add them...

What motor mounts are you referring to? Those shown by alpine003 in post #54? I have not changed motor mounts on my 996 and have not yet determined if it is worth the effort.

Yeah I can do the engine mounts under 15min having it done a few times now. Best $40 I've spent and feels the same as my friends Wevo mounts with slightly less NVH.

Wow...really enjoyed your thread....I have done the same thing in that I have bought a 996 for dedicated track driving since I didn't want to track my 997.2. However, I must say I have spent enough money on my 996 that I could have just gotten a GT3. :-) Still I think part of the fun is making your own mods. You are definitely inspiring me to do more more...especially taking out the interior.... I should start chronicling my changes as well.

I agree with many of you....996's are great value for the track and lots of fun to mod.

BTW....on a plane leaving relatives in Atlanta, wish I would have read this sooner :-)

Great Thread and thanks for sharing!!!!

A GT3 decklid assembly with airscoop and a GT3 wing have been installed to get more downforce (ordered from Mike Shaw design). Fit and finish are very good. Here are a few pics of the final result:

996 (streetable) Track Car Project for sale!

As some of you may already know, I have recently acquired a GT3 and have already had a lot of fun with it at the track... So much fun in fact that it makes the 996 'track' car redundant

So, I am moving forward and listing the car for sale (you'll find her on the 6speed 'marketplace' shortly). There is probably more than enough information in this build thread, but here's a short recap' of what has been done:
