I recently picked up some winter tires for my C4S that came on OEM C4 wheels. Everything fits fine, but they look a bit wonky since the offset in the rear is different.

Does anyone know the spacer size I'd need to buy to be roughly OEM stance? It is really more of a cosmetic thing than anything, but I wouldn't mind the car looking better even when it is on the blizzaks.

 

17 to 18mm i'm assuming the c4 rear rims are about a 63-65mm offset

szumlins what size are the C4 Wheels you picked up?
18" their Offset should be Front 50-52mm and Rear 63-65mm depending on Type of Wheels.

if the Front Wheel is:-
7.5" with 50mm Offset you will need a 6+mm Spacer in the Front (5mm Spacer Might do the Job)
8" with 50mm Offset you will need a NO Spacer in the Front
8" with 52mm Offset you will need a 2+mm Spacer in the Front (Might be OK with no Spacer)

if the Rear Wheel is:-
10" with 65mm Offset you will need a 33+mm Spacer in the Rear
11" with 63mm Offset you will need a 18+mm Spacer in the Rear

They appear to be 18" Turbo Twists (I'm new to the Porsche wheel department, so correct me if I'm wrong). Here is a pic of them on the car:



The fronts look just fine, rears are inset. I believe they are 18x10 rears, but I haven't looked to see the stamping on them.

Fronts are 235's, rears are 265's running Blizzak LM25 rubber.

 

Did some more digging on this, the rears are 10Jx18H2 ET65. If I've done my research correctly, that means I'll need a 33mm rear spacer to make these have the C4S oem stance.

I'm also 99% sure these aren't Porsche wheels but instead reps (which I'm fine with). Just meant I had to do more digging since they didn't have Porsche part numbers cast into the backs of them.

 

Putting 33mm spacers on 65mm offset would make them 32mm. I think this is way beyond the OEM offset. I think OEM was around 45mm.

I don't think anyone makes 33mm spacers.

 

The winter wheels recommended by Porsche for the C4S are 10x18 with a 48mm offset. Even with these wheels installed as recommended, they appear to be sunken a bit into the fenders compared to my 11x18 summer wheels. I added 17mm Porsche spacers to my rear wheels, effectively making my rear offset 31mm. It looks just right now.

 

The thickest spacer I find are 17-18mm. A 33mm spacer (1.299") would be almost twice this thick. I think it also depends on what size tires you run as to whether an offset will work.

I have a narrow body and once tried to run some 48mm offset on the rear (vs. stock 65mm) with 265/40-18 tires. Even after I rolled the fenders I still had rubbing. Might have worked with the stock 265/35-18 but I did not try this.

The bottom line is it is better to get wheels that are close to the recommended offset and then use spacers from there, remembering that spacers lower the offset/move the wheels out. 33mm is a long way to move with spacers.

 

I did a sanity check after this post. The existing wheels are indeed inset quite a bit. I got out the tape measure and measured from the top of the wheel and a little over an inch seems just right.

H&R makes a 30mm kit that I ended up ordering. I'll post back when they arrive and are installed. If I goofed, I guess eBay or the FS forum will be getting a new set of 30mm spacers

 

I stand corrected, they do make spacers that big.

Your picture shows the ruler at 1.5" to the outside of the wheel opening, is that to the edge of the tire? The 30mm spacers will move the tire out 1.181" so you will be very lose to the inner edge of the wheel well. Looking forward to see if this works.

 

It is actually against the wheel itself, but the 265's don't really stick out on a 10" wheel. If I have to dumb it down, H&R makes a 25mm kit as well.

Took it for a quick little 6 miles spin. No rubbing whatsoever, even under heavy cornering or acceleration. By the looks of it, I probably could have gotten another 2-3mm and still been clear, but not worth the risk or the cost of a custom spacer (I could only find 5mm increments about 25mm)

 

Wow... that's a huge spacer. It does make the wheel look better though. How does the car ride? Does it feel normal?

 

Feels great in the short ride I took. For as aggressive as I'll get on Blizzaks I'm sure it will be perfect
