Any good 996's out there?
2000 996 C2 with 119,000 on the clock. No issues other than routine maintenance items, ie. water pump, alternator, AOS? Etc. I have only had one break down when the alternator failed. Dual Row IMS upgraded by Flat 6 a few months ago. Car is tracked occasionally and I love every second driving it.
Yes! Yes! Yes! Currently we have a foot of snow way out west and I don't want to drive her! She's been garaged for a month. At what point do I worry about a dead battery and will a battery tender do the trick? The battery was replaced in 2009, driven only 2000 k per year until I bought her.
The remote seems to have started to sleep and I have to wake it up by using the door lock. 996 Drs. is this normal? I am awaiting the delivery of my Porsche owners manual which I bought on line.

Hey jaki996. I lived in Idaho Falls untill last year and had the same issue with my Boxster S. A trickle charger or battery tender will definitely work but my solution was to buy a new battery from Sams Club and after the second winter (quite long winter that year) when my car failed to start, Sams replaced it for free! Same the following year!
Just hit my 100K mark a few months ago on my 2000. I keep her in the garage a lot and have a trickle charger on her. When I first bought her (2 years ago), I replaced the oil tube seals, spark plugs, put on a CAI, new clutch, dual row IMS. I don't track the p-car and try to drive it at least once a week.
I'm so glad I found you on this site.
My life can be a contentious and difficult place and except for my shredder (which I love) and my 996 (which I worship), this thread of affirmation is proving to be an invaluable
diversion from other woes.
I LOVE YOU ALL!

WOOOAAA slow down there .. I hope Jaki is a female

Bought my 02 996 convertible about 2 years ago at about 30K miles. I knew I had to replace the passenger window regulator at purchase, so I can't complain there. Everything else has been upgrade $ (exhaust, rims, nav unit, smarttop, etc.) so no problems on the mechanical side and I love the car. I do have to sell due to loss of job but we also have an 05 boxster S so there will still be a Porsche in the garage, and I'll eventually get another 911 (maybe a 997.2 next time). We'll see.
.
Well!
Hurdygurdyman.... I drive a macho car! Or I will as soon as the snow melts and I can get her out of the garage.
As for SoCal 02 911...you have a spare ( Boxter) so I won't feel too badly for you.
And the body of your 996 isn't even cold yet and you are making noise about a 997.2 ....... the 996 has much more beautiful 'eyes'!

Funny, I have a great photo in that series with me standing next to my car but it is precisely because you do exist that I didn't post that one.
I'm sorry but this love affair was apparently short lived and so over!:
Not to be confused oh other wonderful and extremely helpful 'posters', this comment is for "Hurdigurdi Man" ( who actually posted his age as 71) and his sidekick, "Leathers".
That's another thing that's nice about a 911, the +2 can even fit the tail of a dinosaur.

'98 C2 with ~60K, had the car for 6 years. Only issue has been a faulty coil pack causing occational misfire last autumn. Had them all replaced and can hardly wait until driving it again in April when the snow has disappeared!
