Any good 996's out there?
Good to know!
All of this positive feedback has been great.
I used to drive a 1970 911T back in 1985. They were relatively primitive
back then and my recently purchased 996 is as modern a 911 as I could fit into my budget.
The people with serious problems were cause for concern.
That is until all of you reminded me that the 911 is an amazing car for many, many reasons.
I've often thought that if I couldn't own a Porsche, there is no other car that I would strive to own.
Thank you all again.

Carrera Sport
Just Bought my first 03 996 Carrera tiptronic Convertible in December 2012, Already added cold air induction , headers and silver top to complement the lapis blue and grey interior, love the car and get a lot of compliments on the 2 tone scheme, have 73k on the odometer and plan on adding exhaust and wheels in the near future, good luck with yours

FLATT and Jcusa
FLATT: How long do you think can I safely let my vehicle sit w/o driving it? The weather has been 15 degrees and the snow is a mess. A few months can't be all that bad...NO?
I can't risk a problem on the street. I know other people that garage them throughout the winter. I see you are talking about oil & additives.:
Jcusa....I saw a 996 with red wheels and rear view mirrors. I would've purchased it except it was a northeast car and there were logistical problems but it is crazy wonderful looking. Tell me about that. Was that a special order package that year? Makes mine look a bit boring!

I purchased a 1999 C2 with 116K on the odometer. Changed the oil, gearbox fluid, also the gas lift cylinder on the engine deck lid. The car is a blast to drive. Everything works perfectly. Just need new look into a new radar detector
P.S. My only concern is the IMS issues.

Oh yeah - 99 C2 hear, bought with 58K now at 68K, had it for just shy of 2 years. Had to fix a few small items: coolant exp. tank, spark plugs tubes, front strut. I opted to have the IMS, AOS, RMS, and clutch (very worn) done at 63K so now I know it's rock solid.
All in all, a fantastically rewarding car to drive. Amazing how much people think it costs! It's been very reliable. The little things that pop up are easy to manage and reasonable for cost, just pay attention. Mine is 14 years old and it's held up very well!
996
This may sound a bit odd but... I have a pair of 2001 996's, one is a C2 and the other a TT. Both about 60k miles both coupes and 6 speeds. Got to say after a year with the C2 and about a month with the Turbo it's an even heat. Sure the turbo has a kick over 4k rpm but with most of my driving in the city/burbs the C2 feels stronger. It has a K&N CAI and a Gemballa exhaust so it sounds deep and pulls strong. The TT is stock but the 100 xtra HP seems vague. So, no issues, great drivers and keeps me occupied in the garage tinkering

The only ones that I am aware of that comes with the red trim are the GT3/RS. I had my mirrors and the front bumper trim custom painted, along with the rims powder coated and then I ordered the "Carrera 4" sticker from Suncoast Porsche. The feedback that I have received has been 95% positive but my Ex, shockingly enough, hates it. Of course, she doesn't like Porsche either.
But I saw one with the same paint job.
While I was searching I saw one and I do not believe it was a GT3.
That was quite bold of you to order a Carrerra that way.
I think it's uber glam!
