How much to get your wing painted?

Hi,

I just purchased a GT3 wing for my car while it was on sale from Suncoast Porsche and was wondering type of prices people were getting to get their wing's painted and mounted. I got a quote from West Coast Specialties in San Diego for $916.07. Can any one tell me if they think this is good or on the high side?

Did they give you a price breakdown of the $916. It would be interesting to see how much they charge for paint vs. labor. I am not familiar with the time required to install the wing but the quote seems a little steep.

i just got a GT3 wing from Suncoast as well and had it painted & installed.

cost:
$300 paint & finish
$114 install

This is from the top shop here in Atlanta used/recommended by the Porsche dealer - not Maaco

all depends on where u are & how good the shop is. bottomline is if they charge 1,000 they better deliver 1,000 worth of quality work.

West Coast Specialties is supposed to be the official paint shop for Pioneer Centres Porsche hear in San Diego. I don't know if that makes them good or not but there was a lot of porsche's in the parking lot when I went there. I was a little concerned when I went there that they made a bid deal about matching the color of the wing to my car. My 03 is artic silver which I assumed would be easy because it is so common. They indicated that if they had to 'blend' the colors the quote would be more. For that kind of money I would expect it to be perfect...

Here is a brakedown of costs on the quote:

Body Labor - 6.0 hours @ $45/hr - $270.00
Paint Labor - 8.2 hours @ $45/hr - $369.00
Paint Supplies - 8.2 hrs @ $30.00/hr - $246.00
Body Supplies - 6.0 hrs @ $2/hr - $12.00
Subtotal - $897.00
Sales tax - 19.07
Total - $916.07

I had my taco wing repaired (the fiberglass stuff always seems to need this), sanded, primed, painted, cleared, and buffed for $325 and did the install myself. The shop said they should have quoted $750 for the work, but they stuck to that price. The repairs were pretty extensive.

So $916 installed sounds reasonable to me.

although bland the color into the rear panels might be the ideal way to make the color perfectly the same to ur eyes but don't do it. u want to keep as much factory paint as possible since there's no body damage.
