What spacers do I need?
What spacers do I need?
I just got a set of 5-spoke OEM wheels for 996 NB.
18x8 ET50
18x10 ET65
I am downsizing from 19s, and I think I am going to need spacers. Does anybody know what spacers will I need, so when the wheels get here I can have available already?
I have a set of 17mm techart spacers that I am currently running on the 19s. So if this ones fit, I'd just need the fronts.
Car is A 1999 nb C2, lowered to euro stock specs: euro springs, 10mm lower on front than USA cars. Rear same standard now lowered.

If no spacers, better of course. But I like wheels flush. I will setup a very conservative camber, daily driver and tired of burning through tires so quickly from the inside.
What size tires you are planning on? You shouldn't need any spacers if you use stock tire sizes, and if you want to go larger, you might have a reduced need in the rear as the tire is already wider and possibly increased need in the front to ensure you clear the suspension and wheel wells at full lock.
Tire combo suggestions I've made note of for a NB 996:
I might start a new thread specifically on tire size / wheel offset / spacer size combo's as I'm working on some changes as well...

- 225/40-18, 285/30-18 (oem. I've seen 7mm F and 14mm rear or 14F 14R spacers suggested for your wheel offsets)
- 245/35-18, 295/30-18 (Suggested to put a bit more tire on the car, reduce understeer, and fill the wheel wells a bit more)
- 245/35-18, 285/30-18 (even better under/oversteer balance)
- 235/40-18, 295/30-18 (oem GT3 MKI sizing)

Dennis,
how does the car look on 265? I am not obsessed with cramming as much as I can back there. As a matter of fact, with the limited power of a 99, I don't think I would utilize the potential of 305, for example.
Following pbfz's, I was thinking 245/35-18, 285/30-18... until I read your post about 265 for winter. I would be using the same 10" wide rears in winter.

In the summer, I will go back to 11x18 rear wheels with 295 width tires and no spacers.
Yeah, measuring is fool proof. I am trying to purchase spacers if I need them, so mechanic can do all at once. I am shipping the wheels from one location, the tires from another one, and... wanted to ship spacers to him as well. I am 100 miles from my mechanic that's why. Can always install spacers myself later but wanted to do it all at once. The amount of variables is making it hard.
Bump,
I came across this member's photos a while back. The fitment is perfect for my taste! Its been almost 2 months and I still have not been able to get a hold of this guy. :/

I'd like to know more, it seems like you've got it all figured out!
With that stance, did you have to roll fenders? How about tire sizes? Wheel camber, etc? Also, could you provide pictures?
Id really appreciate your help. Thank you.
Hey Nitro,
You mentioned the tires being very close to the fender, would possibly 235 front and 295 rear be able to fit?
Photos of this setup would be terrific if its not too troublesome.
