First Ride with the Top Down

The weather is finally cooperating. I finally was able to get the hard top off and go for a ride topless.

How many times have you found yourself on a light and wished you could start moving and get the top in/out as well? Now, think about paying $300 for being able to, those few/many times. If worth the money for those few/or many times, then yes. If not.... not

I have the SmartTop and had the RemoteTop. The SmartTop is great. You can get in the car and lower/raise the top while you get started rather than waiting for the top to raise or lower, holding the button. And raise or lower it on the go.

The RemoteTop was also great, in someways even better as you can open the top while you are walking toward the car or park the car and close the top while you are walking away, really handy. Unfortunately I had one of the early version that went bad and they don't really warranty the early ones. They acknowledge that there was a problem with the power on the early version and changed the design to correct it. The did offer a discount of 25% off the new version but in my opinion, given that they acknowledged the design fault, the should have offered a replacement. IMHO.

But still great products.

Thanks everyone. It seems the SmartTop is worth it for those times you get stuck with a weather change, you can put the top up or down at a light with out worry of it changing.

How hard is it to install?

Enjoy the top-down weather guys!

It was -2 degrees F here this morning while I ran the snow blower.

You can do that without spending any money. Renntech has a DIY for this. You snip one wire and tape it off. That's it. I did it two years ago after getting stuck in crawling traffic and it started to rain. The best zero dollars I ever spent

I don't think you need this mod for a 2003. I think you can raise and lower your top while moving as is. In any case, here is the link:

Correct -- up to 25mph. The only feature this adds is one-touch operation. A lot to pay for that. You can still open the top before you get in with your key.
