New 996 owner says hello
Hi all,
After reading all the good things and bad ones (IMS, RMS, water pump.....)about the 996 I made up my mind and bought a '98 C2 Tiptronic. Got the car this morning.
It’s got the full maintenance records and I had the car checked by the local dealer (Doha, Qatar) before the purchase. There was no leak, no fault code. Next oil service due in another 3500 km. I asked the mechanics about the IMS and he looked at me as if I am from a different planet.
The car has Gemballa exhausts. The speedometer dial has a “Gemballa design”print. I asked the owner how much “Gemballa” influence in this 911 and he hadno idea.
Car has done 103K km, not too bad for a 15 year old car.
In general, very happy with the purchase. I have Alpina B5s and MK6 GTI (theDD) in my garage. I am going to try 911 as DD for a while. Wish me luck!
