How often should I trickle charge my battery? (only drive once a week)

I just replaced my starter and battery with brand new ones. I only drive the car once or twice a week. Should I charge the battery when sitting, with trickle charger (2,10,15 amps) even with a brand new battery?

I use a battery tender connected via the cig lighter. I hook it just about every time I park it. That way the battery is ready each times want to drive it.
The tender keeps the battery ready without overcharging it.

if you are driving the car once a week, there is no way you should need to trickle charge the battery. If your battery drains of any significance in that short of span, you have a problem.

^^What he said^^ I drive mine only a couple of days (2-3 maybe 4) a week as well and have never used a tender. If your battery is draining you have some other problem.

+996, you don't need to charge it when it's driven once or twice a week, now, if it's once or twice a month, that is different.

Well I had a problem with the starter so the starter went bad and it messed up my battery... That's why I replaced both at the same time.

Since I drive it every week there should be a need to charge it then.

Thanks!

Ditto. No reason at all. If you're going away for months you could put it on a tender.

Most 2/5/10 type battery chargers do not have a 'float' mode, and shouldn't be used for frequent maintenance charging. They can harm the battery.

Something like a battery tender (my favorite is the battery tender "international") can be used constantly without harming the battery. Nothing wrong with frequently hooking up a battery tender on a car that is lightly driven.

I use a cigarette lighter plug to attach mine.

My battery is at the point where the car wont start, but all the interior lights work...pwr windows work...hood/trunk release works. What should I use to attempt to start car?
