Hey,

Is the 3.6 much different than he 3.4? 20HP can't be that much? Maybe the low end grunt is improved, I think my car lacks that a bit from all the M3's I've driven?

I've owned a 3.4 C2 and a 3.6 C4S, so I can address your questions directly.

Power-wise, they're so close I couldn't feel a difference. Perhaps a tad more grunt at 3-4k rpm in the C4S, but not enough to make a big difference.

Handling-wise, the differences were more pronouced. I found the C2 to have a pretty mushy front end, with a lot of push, especially at higher speeds. The C4S is much tighter, and really doesn't have much understeer if you drive it properly. The key (I found) was the transition from braking to throttle on corner entry, and its relation to turn-in. I found that coming off the brakes a little later, and turning in slightly before the application of throttle really helped the front end bite. Once you've got that taken care of, the C4S has a lot of grip to play with, slides very predictably and stably, and you just won't lose it coming out of a corner under power. Just plant your right foot, and hang on.

This is all stock vs stock. The 2wd vs AWD debate rages forever. If you like the on-rails feel when you're driving, go with the C4S. If you want to wag the tail a bit more, get a C2, but be preprared to mod the suspension. Really, if you want to get power oversteer, you'll need to supercharge it. These cars have a very high grip/power ratio, so understeer and wheel-hop are your ever-present companion.
