Question Aftermarket Suspension - Help...

Getting ready to purchase a near new condition 02' 996 C2 w/ 11k miles. Looking to upgrade suspension, wheels spacers, intake, and possibly exhaust.

Any recommendations from fellow members with similar car? Thanks

Cooper

SANDOVAL has a spectacular aura aboutSANDOVAL has a spectacular aura aboutSANDOVAL has a spectacular aura about
suspension-
Good:
M030 Euro $1K best bang for the buck, great every day handling, lowers the car a bit. Also comes with new sways.
Better:
PSS9 $2K Track worthy setup lots of adjustments, also lowers car, sways will be extra $$$

expect to pay +$600 for install on either

wheels spacers- Not sure why???
intake- makes the engine sound different that's about it but Fabspeed makes a simple install unit. or Search ebay for Schnell they make basically the same intake for $99.
Exhaust - Porsche Sport Exhaust hands down

Personally I would do a Short Shift kit before spacers and intake probably my favorite mod definatley a must have! Congrats on your purchase.

I wouldn't bother with a coil-over suspension unless you're planning on regularly changing the ride height and/or suspension setup for track days or have money burning a hole in your pocket. Get a set of H&R springs and Bilstein HD shocks if you'll be leaving the setup alone. The M030 is also a great setup, but doesn't lower the car very much, so if you really want a lowered look then go with the H&R setup.

Why do you want spacers? Just for looks? Once you lower the car you won't really need them. But if you must have them, get 5mm for the front and 17 for the rear (OEM size).

Exhaust is really a matter of personal preference. If you have the $$$, get the PSE. If you want to save some dough, get the Fabspeed.

Ted, that’s the same dilemma i was in, i lived in Brandon Manitoba at the time i purchased the car and you can imagine what Manitoba roads are like, that was the main reason i went with the Row M030 too, now I’m out in Edmonton and the roads are better but i know that if i had the Pss9's i'd be tempted to just leave the car at a lowered height after a track event or autocross. So really i think for both of us the Row M030 is a much better choice, however like me you probably have second thoughts when all these boys down in calli post pics of their cars with the tires all tucked up in the fenders.....i only wish....
but anyways back to your question, yes it sure does improve things, the ride height is only lowered .75" or 1" in some extreme cases guys have had 1.25"-1.5".... i really noticed that the bias was brought back to over steer as opposed to under steer with the stock setup, i have no idea about your driving abilities, all i can say is try to get used to that slowly at a track even or so, cause it can bite! but personally i love the bias toward over steer instead of under steer.
Mine has been in storage for too long too, can't wait to take her out, dunno when it'll happen tho, as i'm out in Europe for a while....

996 mods

Thanks guys!

I will likely look into the option of H&R Springs with a set of new shocks (Bilstein or Konis's?).

Wheel spacers are just a thought of mine to bring out a more aggressive look. Would I need longer wheels studs for these spacers or it is part of the package when I buy these spacers?

If anyone can post some photos of their 996 with suspension, that would be great for visual eye candy before my investments.

THanks!

when you buy spacers they bolt onto the existing setup and then the regular bolts should work on the wheel install...hope this makes sense

yep no need to change lugs unless you getting stupid wide spacers... also might run into fender clearance issues if you do spacers and suspension...
