Newbie :)

Hey Everyone,

My name's Phil and I'm in Albuquerque, NM. By newbie, I'm not kidding! Since I was 16, my dream car has been some version of the 911 and it took FOURTY years to finally get one I can call my own. I've been looking pretty much all over the southwest for the last month or so, only to have one sold before I got to it, or a salesman calling the day before to inform me there were some major issues with the car I was interested in. This past Saturday, I stumbled across a 2004 Cabriolet at a local dealer. 61K miles, seal gray metallic with gray interior, plus a manual trans. Needless to say, it was love at first sight and we went home together 4 hours later. One previous owner with a clean carfax. There's a few minor scratches on the paint but they should come out when I have someone detail it. There's a few places inside that show a little wear, but it looks great for being 10 years old!

The only issues I've noticed since it came home are the CD player will only take a disc about 3/4 of the way in and occasionally there's a squeak when the rear deck closes at the end of the top cycling. I'm sure the latter can be a lubrication problem? The CD player isn't high on the list since it has a changer that is part of the premium sound package.

Anyway, I'm glad I found this forum and I can't wait to read through the previous posts so I can get up to speed on all things 996! If anyone has any words of wisdom about my particular car, by all means fire away. I'm all ears at this point.

Phil

Welcome Phil,
Enjoy... just in time for spring and some top down motoring.
Check the fluid on the hydraulic reservoir, top off if needed, also check the the poorly designed rear latch flap cover,Mine broke off and was a real pain to fix the damage from a $20.00 part.
Sounds like the radio will be the first mod.
noises or squeaks are typical for any car with out a roof. The cabriolet is extremely rigid one of the best designed IMO.
