Need reasonable source for parts

Must rebulid man. Six speed for my 2001 996. Not looking forward to paying dealer prices for the parts. Any suggestions for a good source for the parts?

best place to start would be Los Angeles Dismantler since you're in CA...they specialize in used Porsche parts (ladismantler.com)

Thank you

Thanks, but I am looking for a good source for NEW parts. However will check your suggestion and compare going with a complete used trans, if they have ibe that might be reliable. will see what the cost is compaired to rebuilding this one.

Pelican Parts for new parts, Parts Heaven for used parts. You may want to Google LA Dismantlers and read the thread on Rennlist ... definitely mixed reviews. FWIW, my experience with Parts Heaven has been excellent.

Another member recommended Sonnen Porsche, a dealer in San Rafael, CA. Said they beat Pelican by quite for parts when he rebuilt his heads. I bought my car from them used but have never bought any parts. Evidently they do a lot of mail order business.

Local Porsche master tech who I've known for awhile recently started rebuilding/refurbishing Porsche trannys. I believe he currently has a listing on ebay for around $3500. He makes sure to replace the main problem part that plagues these trannys(forgot off the top of my head).

Good experiences with Pelican, ECS, Vertex and Jim Ellis. Bad experience with Einmalig.
Make sure you triple check part numbers and cross reference your vin. Anything special order is generally not returnable.

Worst case scenario, if there is a part tough to find (or priced too much), PM me. My indy has at least 2 donors that are used to harvest parts. He also has parts taken from cars turned track cars.

Sunset porsche. They don't have an online list and you have to call and actually talk with someone. They give a discount for forum members. They didn't ask me what forum, just how I heard of them and then gave me a discount. They have some of the best prices I have found.

Wish they had website ordering. Much of my parts buying is done late at night behind closed doors sometimes with the lights out
