Ticking noise from the engine

OP, can you verify if it only happens in neutral as your original post reads?

Also does it happen when you first start it or when engine cold?

OP, I would use the DT40 oil. Follow the instructions for changing, use the DT break-in oil for a few miles then do the switch to DT40. Using the break-in first ensures most of the old oil is replaced. You can buy it from LN Engineering or Joe Gibbs Driven.

I would echo this! My 99 with 90K miles started ticking on cold start after my indie put M1 15-50 and got no better with Castrol 10-60. After 2 changes with 05-40W DT40 it's almost non existent unless the car has been sitting for a week.

When you heard the ticking, does it go away when you depress your clutch? A friend of mine had his clutch replaced and when he got it back he would hear a ticking noise when it was in neutral and clutch pedal up. Once he depressed the clutch the ticking went away.
