I'm not sure about the whole wear and tear thing. I think you could argue it a couple different ways.

That was a pretty good article, but they didn't spend a lot of time talking about the performance of the kit.

I hope the silicone hoses shown in the pic is part of the new hose kit. This should really eliminate the chance of a boost leak. I like how they kept the main plastic intake hose, but put silicone hosing on the end where it connects.

I had my intercooler pipes made from stainless steel at a machine shop here in Wyo that look good and really let you clamp down securely. I also put on heavy duty clamps. It is much easier to change the air cleaner now and MAF or clean out the intercooler which I had to do because the installer used pipe dope instead of teflon tape for the joints. The only one that shows is the elbow on top but I did it for function rather than looks. Cost 300$. Will

How long should it normally take to remove and reinstall the air cleaner?

Do you have any pics of your stainless plumbing?

I was being sarcastic Andrew as I know your fettish for all things yellow. But if you really wanted them in yellow I am sure I could source them.

Deputy,

Welcome to the club! I am sure you made the right decision. I love my EVO SC and have not had any problems at all under normal driving. NO CEL's, no blown MAFS, just great power throughout the power band. I love the power at 5000 RPM. It's very addicting. My car dynoed at 412 HP at the wheels which translates roughly to 490 at the crank.

I did experience a small challenge while at the track one day. My local track has several sustained (hi G) left hand turns which caused the oil to collect on the right side of the supercharger instead of flowing normally through the drain at the bottom. The oil overflowed and caused me to stop driving until I could get it diagnosed. After I had it cleaned out, I have experienced no problems. I consider this to be a minor problem for which Todd has offered a solution.

Thanks for sharing the news regarding the improvements. I will be speaking to Todd to see how I can tweak mine.

Many have asked why I didnt upgrade to a Turbo and the answer is simple. For the cost of a Turbo, I have more power, was able to add PSS9's, GT3 brakes and sway bars. I have beter handling, better braking and more power and less weight than a stock turbo. I know a turbo can derive more power with mods but I don't need more than 500 HP on the street. For ME, this was a great solution that will keep me happy for years to come.

Enjoy and drive safely.

Tom

Let's wait to see what Todd comes up with the new replacement hoses. Hopefully they'll at least be red. A little bling couldn't hurt back there

Tal: How did you clean the supercharger unit up and what was the solutions to keep it from happening again? I was kicking around doing a DE event in the near future.

Dog: it takes me about an hour to change the filter after doing it a few times. It requires removing all the intercooler pipes but if your installer gives you extra hose on the intercooler itself it just can be laid to one side without removing, thus less mess. The MAF is adjacent to the air cleaner so it is the same install. I have also done the belt just because I had the SC off when my oil feed line blew( I think similar to Robyn's). There is a little trick to putting the SC back, the alternator will rotate a little out of alignment so it is hard to start one bolt but I just wedged a rubber hose under the alternator until it was started then removed it. Also you need to modify your allen wrenches to be shorter to fit in the small space and back out the bracket bolts. Just little things that make the install easier. Will

The first time you do it, it may take an hour. But once you see how it comes apart, you can remove and reinstall in less than 30 minutes, including a smoke and a few sips of coffee. Cleaning the MAF take about 15 minutes.

Has anybody modded one of these kits to "safely" get more power? Smaller pulley, etc...

dyno appointment is on Friday morning. charts will be posted Friday afternoon

Mother: Is your kit running or do have an engine you're working on still?
