Typiacal cost for RMS repair

Just wondering what is typical cost for rear main seal repair? My recently purchased 99 996 shows a little weeping in the usual location. Probably will have it changed at next service interval.

I'd buck up and do it at dealer since that buys you a 2 yr warranty. However, make sure your dealer is reputable and you should ask around.

Just had mine done couple weeks ago and the dealer hit me with a $1400 bill. They say "the book" lists RMS job as a 14 hr job so @ $99/hr...

Its insane...but yeah, price you pay to have a p-car i guess.

So many dealers do this repair in half of what the book says.

Let it leak if it's not bad until you need a clutch... Then the labor won't be wasted and they can put the new "Cayenne" style seal in also using the new tool. If it's a bad leak, then do a new clutch anyway.... It's only about $500 more and it will save you money later....
