996 daytime running lights

I am interested in adding running lights to my 2003 996 C2 cab. Recommendations? Anyone done this?
Thanks in advance.

Are you interested in adding LED DRLs, or are you interested in having the headlights function as DRLs like you see in Canadian cars?

Drl lights add-on look best if you have the right bumper, IMO. Sticking any strip LED trip to the stock bumper under side opening make it look cheap. Some may disagree but that's just me. It needs to look like it comes from the factory. Here's mine from my old 996 with the 997 GT3 bumper. Find yourself a nice set of DRL LED set & a good auto on/off relay. Don't buy the cheap one as they won't last, trust me I know.

I bought the DRL Led lights & relay on ebay. This auto on/off relay was simple to install. Just tap the NEG. to the body & positive to the battery. It doesn't drain the battery. It comes with the light sensor that you mount to the bumper opening. When it gets dark the DRL lights come on. I wanted mine to turn on all the time so I installed it in the frunk for complete darkness. The lights turn on for about 5 sec when there's a power surge like opening the door, lock/unlock the door. It's about $18.00 but they're the best one I seen so far. IMO. As for the LED light, I don't remember which seller I bought it from. There's plenty to choose from depending on the style you want, how many LED lights, etc. Just choose one that look best for your bumper. You may need to remove the bumper if you want to do it the right way & not half azz.

Just as an option to LEDs, this is what I did:

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...l-996-a-2.html

To me, the LEDs are very cool, but not necessarily consistent with our cars' era, so this option is a marriage of the two concepts. I had a local installer put HIDs in the fog light position, who uses those things anyway? I can't remember the temperature I chose, but the light is bright white. I feel like this is more true as it consistent with the model year, but white in color as opposed to the yellow, "dipped" headlights that DRLs usually use.

Good luck in your search! KH

I had trouble finding led sets that fit in my MKI bumper. I bought these very thin flexible strips and made my own mounting bracket out of angle aluminum. I like the way they look. These are the 12-LED flexible lights from http://www.customdynamics.com/trufle...d_lighting.htm
