Trying to get some paint from HomeDepot, on the way back home, someone ran through the red light from the left on Yenz Ave and Hit our car. Thanks god we got 2 witnesses saw what happened. One is the mercedes next to me on my left, he almost got hit by him and one is behind us. They were willing to be the witness for the accident. But my wife was in shock. That guy wearing sunglasses insists saying its our fault. He was driving the 4dr chevy Impala. I believe he was driving like 45 and up. Just a bad day. Here is the pictures.

Since the front bumper needs to be replaced, does anyone know if there is Techart style front bumper will fit the 02' C2 ? I know its not a wide body but I have heard someone told me there have one for narrow body also. Any information will be great. Thanks.

 

sorry for your ill fortune - maybe you can make lemonade out of it and get that new bumper!

rant note - it disgusts me that most of america has lost it's sense of responsibility and is always looking to blame someone else - like this tool (but i admittedly wasn't there). this is especially prevalent in legal system where the thought is to sue everybody and not take any responsibility

First of all, sorry to hear about the accident!

The wide body is only in the rear so front bumpers are pretty much interchangeable across the narrow/wide bodies. There's a little extra fitting you have to do to get a Turbo bumper on your C2, but it'll fit ok. I'm glad to see the damage looks like it's only superficial.

 

Wow, that truly is a bad day. Really glad to hear no one was injued. Hopefully there isn't any serious frame damage to your car.

The weird thing is when I ask him for his driving license information, he said 'This is a company car" and he is not willing to give me his drive license info. And Monterey Park Police are not really helpful and has attitude problem. They were little rude and keeps saying 'we don't need to ask the other party's info. It will be on your police report. We don't want both side have the argument. My wife wasn't trying argue with that guy but just want to at least get his personal info. But female cop said 'no', please step over here. We were little disappointed with their attitude. My wife was shaking at all time, she was scared. While I was calling 911 then taking picures at the scene, she can't even drop down the witness's info, her hand just shaking.

After the impact, we got out the car and my wife was screaming at him 'Is it worth it that to run the red light and just to save yourself a minute, you could have killed someone just running through a red" And he kept quite, I remember my wife ask him twice with same question. But when the cops came, he starts making up his story for the statement That is sick !

I just went downstairs and took this picture. I am not sure if the body frame is ok or not, but seems there are huge scratches as you can see that went through the bumper.

Sorry to see this so close to my own house, I know exactly where this X-street is and it is only less than two miles from where I live.....

You want to hear something else, my brother and I were in a accident on this very street just about 10 cars south from that intersection some 15 years back.

Too bad you didn't have my number, as I wouldn't have mind showing up and quoting some legal - jibber to those officers..... Trust me they wouldn't have liked an other P-car to roll up and explain to them what they should have done from the begining.....

Send those witnesses a nice little Christmas gift and hope you'll never hear have to waste a day in court trying to deal with that idiot!!!

glad to hear you guys are okay besides the trauma and stress. people drive like crazy in montery park. although garvey is usually packed with slow drivers to reduce the speed quit a bit.

since you have his license plate and hopefully the police has his personal info, you should have nothing to worry about. your insurance will dig out everything else. they are going to try everything to get the other insurance to pay for it.

hopefully you will get the car fixed soon and put all this behind. and even better if you ended up with a techart.

 

If you decide you just want to get a regular front bumper I have a spare. PM me if your interested, I was just going to sell it next month at a swap meet anyway.

 

Sorry to hear about your accident. Like others have said, at least you and your wife were not hurt as it could have been much worse.

The techart will fit your front and it will look great. I'd also look into getting the side skirts to match because the front will sit much lower and the lines are very agressive..... good luck and keep us in the loop

 

From your photos, it looks like there was no metal bent, so all you need to get is a new bumper cover. This can be fixed for as little as $600-700. The bumper ram did its job and absorbed the impact.

You can be back to normal in a week.

 

If he was going 45 on Garvey or Ynez, he was 20 over the speed limit. Can't believe MPP didn't do anything but some of them can be pretty useless. Good luck with the repairs.

 

Montery Park PD must get a boat load of traffic incidents each day. When I was side swipped in my Jag I was lucky to have a good Alhambra cop on the scene. He took some snaps, tossed them on the trunk of my car and said "I have no clue where those came from"...... I just happened to have my camera in my other car. That was nice! My front tire poped and the rim made a clear line in the road showing that I was clearly in the lane when I was hit.......

Yes, I got $$$ for my car to be repaired..... Sold the car "as-is" and kept the $$$......

He was speeding and ran the red. After we hit, I think I hit his rear wheel on the right side, his car was spinning, as you can see the picture, his car was facing opposite direction. Since his wheel was bended, he needs to call tow truck.
I am glad that I already brake. If I was little faster, he might hit my left side. I will be dead !
