Anyone beside me kinda like the MY 99 interior?

I have a MY99 and I kind of like the interior. The grey textured finish on the rear center console, vents, ect does not really bother me thet much. I have just heard so many people mention not to buy a MY 99 because of the interior and that seems ludacris. There are even several good reasons to buy a MY 99 if you can get over the interior. Those being, lower prices right now, TC/limited slip option and cable actuated throttle. I just seems the MY99 gets a bad rap on this and other forums unduly and I wanted to put my $.02 in.

I had a '99 C2 Cab, Guards/Beige/Black.

Sold it and ordered/bought an '04 C4S Cab. Absolutely would never go back to the plastic material of the '99 if I had a choice. Dash was basketball material. New plastics have a soft-touch coating feel great.

As for dollars, sure, any 'older' model is going to be much cheaper...but for one year's difference, the interior is far superior. I'd opt for an '00 over a '99 if all other things were equal.

The "Basketball" interior on non full leather equipped model year '99 996 Porsches definetly leaves a bit to be desired.

the change in 2000 to soft touch paint on the plastic parts is much more refined in my opinion.

To answer your original question, I like it as is. I also have a 99 Carrera 2 Cab, Guards Red, tan interior, black top. I kinda dig the interior. To each his own.

I know a guy who races GA Cup who's race car was a full leather just like Kevin's 'new' interior. He has it in a warehouse right now. Including full power seats and the carbon three spoke wheel. If anyone wants it, send me a PM. I'd be all over it if it were black but don't want a two tone interior and I'm not giving up my sport seats.

early 996s' interior parts are actually more expensive than the post 02/newer cars. for example, center console, e-brake, shifter, etc.

Porsche went around redesign the interior to make it look better also save production cost. also the redesigned interor allow owners to have more fun with the interior options & much easier to change them. it's like our adult male Barbie. seriously, which car maker out there offer this much of interior piece selection?

This is a funny thread. Right now there's a "why is the '99 interior such a piece of junk" thread on rennlist.
