Intake: Fabspeed Cold Airbox vs. Evo V-Flow
Intake: Fabspeed Cold Airbox vs. Evo V-Flow
I am in the process of purschasing a CAI for my 2002 C2. I've read positive posts on the above two systems. With the price difference $220 vs. $600, I was wondering if the performance gains would differ drastically between the two. From a popularity standpoint, I know the EVO has it hands down to be more receptive to the market but how about user friendly and pure performance? Thanks guys!
I guess for the money, Fabspeed would be a nice simple system to go with while installation is more simplified and direct. Cant beat $220 deal if results are similar....Thanks

The fabspeed intake to my knowledge is just a smooth silicone tube vs the evo one which is a new air box, maf housing and conical filter. So they're different products.... The EVO Intake also has the same smooth tube to the throttle body. Different products...

I am considering a new CAI as well..Any input on the schnell intake? cost about 200 with a new filter.
Not to start any crap but I had an authorized evo dealer tell me not to waste my money cause I wouldn't really get anything from a N/A 3.6 . He said the quicker feeling is all in the mind and as some rmp's will have HP gains, others would loose out.
I would however like a deeper growl to my car so I was considering the cheaper alternative...

Throttle response was noticeably more instant, the pull was noticeably stronger and snappy, and the sound – both from the exhaust and the intake was just intoxicating. I'll dyno mine after all my parts come in and I install them..

PS:...do you recall what exhaust mods your friend had on his car specifically? Was it just mufflers or headers, cats and mufflers?? Brand? etc.....and what kind of 911 was it? Thanks a lot!

I'm sure there is a dyno chart from a stock 02 C2 floating around out there. I was hoping to avoid two dyno runs. However, as cars do differ slightly, it would be more accurate.
I purchased exactly what my friend did with the exception of the brand of headers. He bought Fab Speed, I bought Zero Tek - because I'm cheap. This is my list:
Zero Tek Headers & Zero Tek exhaust - $1000
Fab Speed cat bypass - $550
EVO V-flow intake - $475
Quad tips (from England) - $463
GIAC flash - $850 including shipping my ECU back to me
Total - $3,338.00 plus a few assorted gaskets, nuts and bolts, clamps, etc. So call it $3,500.00 even. I've been told I'll get anything from zero to 45 HP gain. For me, personally, HP gain is not at the top of my list. Every performance car and motorcycle I've ever owned is subject to at least intake, exhaust and fuel mixing mods. Motors should be allowed to breath as effortlessly as possible and be fed an optimum mixture of explosives. This makes them happy. Mashing the pedal connected to a happy motor will reward the driver with a cacophony of exhilarating sounds and a willingness to forward momentum. You can’t measure that on a dyno chart. It’s something you experience. If that’s you bag, then 3500 bucks is a bargain.
