Air con still having a problem after repair

Hi all

Car is 2002 996 turbo (but I think it's the same in all 996 as far as the air con system is concerned), 120,000 miles. Previously the air con was losing coolant and the leak was found in the heat exchange (evaporator? not sure what it's called). So that was replaced and as well as the air circulation shutter and the rotting foam along the way. An expensive job. After all that is done and coolant refilled to 800-900 grams. The air con works fine but then it would stop working after 1 or 2 minutes (I think the compressor just stop engaging). This is set to Lo, the coldest setting. If you disengage the "cold" button for a few minutes and then re-engage the cold button, it works again, but only for a few minutes. And if you just let it blow (without cold air) for a while, it would some how turn on cold for a minute or so and then stop being cool again...

The newly installed circulation shutter would only work intermittently also.

The shop owner suspected the control panel, it was then replaced, but it wasn't the cause. Basically the same thing. He doesn't think it's the compressor however.

Any advices from anyone? Appreciate it! Very frustrated, spent a lot of money and still not fixed...

CW.
