Suspension geometry
Suspension geometry
I have a 1999 carrera 996 with 175k and its time to change the suspension hardware. I changed the shocks to Ksport coilovers a few years ago but now I need to change all the other hardware. I'm looking for something that would be an upgrade to the stock. I do a lot of canyon driving and a few track days a year. I would not like it to get to bumpy on the streets but better in the corners. All the research I have done most people have 966 TT or Gt cars and they track them quite often and adjustability is important to them. What is the difference between brands besides the size of the adjustable shims? I have also seen adjustability with shims or also a screw. I can imagine the screw can be easier to adjust on the fly, wont that were out with time and vibrations?
What do you guys recommend? What are some of you guys running?

Having just replaced the guts of front and rear suspension on my ‘00 C2, daily driver with hopes to track 2-3 times per year, I think the OEM parts are sufficient (need to compare Meyle vs. TRW vs. Porsche). Car has m030 anti-roll bars and H&R springs with Bilstein B8s. I’ve raced SRF and Miatas in SCCA, and think setup/wheel alignment from someone who knows 996’s is much more important than the bits and pieces unless it’s a dedicated track or race car or very experienced driver.
M030 bars are, unfortunately, not adjustable. I’m still playing with alignment settings, I’m at -0.8 front camber and around -1.2 rear. So far, very nimble at street speeds, still under steers more than I like. Rear is pretty stable throttle-off.
OK so I kind of made up my mind "KIND OF" I really want to go whit something aftermarket fully adjustable and kind of stiff. I like my alignment to be straight so I get even wear all around, if I introduce camber in it I will chew through tires in a few months. So stock geometry seems logical for me even tho I want the fully adjustable suspension.
The problem is when I dive in corners the car nose dives then I drive it with the throttle out of the apex the back never comes out and she sticks pretty well but its not a sharp turn out, it kind of body rolls a little out. If this makes sense. I found these sway bars from pelican parts and these are adjustable so I'm hoping these will fix the body roll. Does this make sense?
