Arghh: bad P-things happen in threes
Arghh: bad P-things happen in threes
Parked my car for 15 minutes in Encino while I picked up some California Chicken Cafe en route to speak to an accountant about my taxes (more bad news).
Got back to my car to find my driver's mirror dangling. The housing wasn't damaged, but the mirror was completely shattered, and mirror shards and the oil/liquid in the mirror were all over my door and somehow on my hood.
On the other side, my car had been keyed on everything but the door.
Damn. Friggin' worthless punk.
The next day, I'm at home, hitting my speed bag. One hard whack later, the speed bag dislodges from the mount, goes flying, and smacks the Porsche (parked nearby, of course). It took me a while to figure out where it hit, and then I see a nasty spider crack on my windshield. Most of it's on the bottom, where it's tinted, but a 4" crack formed parallel to the passenger side. Go to a window shop, and learn it has to be replaced.
Now I have to buy a mirror, replace the windshield, and do some paintwork.
In the end, it's only money, but it's nonetheless frustrating.
So, any leads on where I can cheaply replace the windshield and where I can go to buff out the key marks and touch up the parts that are beyond buffing? The car's lease expires at year's end, so I won't be as **** as if I were keeping the car. Just want to avoid penalties.
Thanks. Rant off.

Yikes! Sorry to hear. Safelite can replace your windshield for less than $400. Mirrors can be a bit expensive but check with Porsche Dismantlers in LA first, they may have a set.
what a trip i was just thinking about you today, while having lunch with henry and our lawyer. i forgot what firm you worked for. regarding your problem call Raj or Brian at VCE 310-202-1555. i think a used windsheild goes as cheap as $150, if the key marks are just in the clear you may get away cheap by buffing it out or airbrushing, but then again you have insurance so who cares. give me a ring, got a few questions.
time for some upgrades. I got bumped in the back by some idiot at a stop light a little while back in my old car. everytime I looked at the little dimple I got pissed to make myself feel better I got an entire CF body kit (350Z). I felt better after that. Then gave the car to my bro and bought a porsche.
good luck with the repairs.

I am having my windshield replaced today by safelite for less than $500 including new trim. I just used them for my BMW and they did great work.
