996 1/4 mile times

Hey guys Im sure there have been posts of this before but I could not find them on the search. What is a 99' 996 supposed to do in the 1/4 mile? I ran mine for the first time last night and did a 13.61. The only mods I have are muffler bypass pipes and a Fabspeed cold air kit. Just curious. Thanks!

Zemdogg,

R&T online had a 996 Targa at 13.5
I've seen in some old mags right around that time as well.

My 2004 3.6 ran a 13.20, It was stock , other then a KN air filter. I am not affraid to bang gears.. its under warranty. Weather , temp , bar pressure has alot to do with other factors.I am hoping after the Charger and head and cams are done and tuned that it should run 11:70.....I hope

Here's a partial recap from my 6-15-2005 post

AcuraNSX vs.996
60ft 2.234 2.025
330ft 6.075 5.796
1/8mi 9.133 8.887
MPH 80.67 81.13
1000 11.751 11.525
1/4mi 13.947 sec. 13.734 sec.
mph 103.15 102.72

This was before the cup flywheel. I'm not a dragger and there is a bit of room for improvement.

damn.. not too impressive times...
I ran my VW R32 to 13.7's (granted i have been drag racing for 15 years) that is about 270hp at crank and 3300lbs AWD netted me 1.9 60fts... and my 996 kills my R32 at any RPM.. I may have to do some times this year just for fun!

RacerJSZ how do you like your flywheel? where did you pick it up from?

I like the flywheel alot, but it's not for the average driver. Mine is a factory Cup flywheel. My mechanic, who racers a Carerra Cup car, would not even mess with one of the cheaper aluminum jobs. The car lopes a little at idle, like it's trying to find its happy rpm. Never stalls, just lopes. I like it - with t he cat bypass and flywheel it sounds just like a cup car.

Revs jump noticably quicker and throttle blips seem to be much smoother now. You can't drive the car around under $2800 anymore - it again seems to hunt for the right timing. Above 3K it's perfect. It is also dangerous if you pull into a lower gear - never use the clutch to slow the car. You'll redline in a heartbeat.

I think I would spend the extra $1200 again.

See I read 13.2 also and I see what you posted but I just dont beleive it. 13.4 tops! Im not saying either that my mods did much but I know they did something. Fabspeed airbox kit is 5 horse according to the worlds most accurate Dyno the Dynapak. Bolts to the hubs no rollers. Believe me it sounds stupid to me too but numbers dont lie.
