Footwell sub for Cabriolets?

Anyone know where I can get one other than the factory Bosse unit? i remember a company back east somewhere had delevoped one that was the same size, but used a 10" driver....anyone have a clue of what that was? I actually spoke to the company, but lost the pics they sent and all info on the company...

Very nice product. A tad pricey but definitely appears to be solid and well finished. It is not the same unit that I thought you were referring to in another thread. Any idea how it is fixed in position and which sub they are using?

Is teh JL Audio 8w3. I spoke with the shop, they custom fabricate it out of fiberglass and use Porsche OEM carpet. It uses the factory maounting point used for the Bose subwoofer....They said it sounds better than 2 10's 3 6's and other rear deck options for the coupe . I am ordering one and will report on the results.

Keep us posted on the results and thanks for being the guinea pig. Depending on your review, I may have to suck it up and take the plunge.

For what its worth, I asked him about the few other options on the market, the rear footwell subs, and other footwell options and he says that this is a REAL sub with real low end, a sealed enclosure with a very nice dual coil sub....

My system has an 8 in there and a 10 in the hood. Real base. I can't see how one 10 sounds better than 2, but you'll let us know.

The aftermarket company you're looking for is AiDesign in Tuckahoe, NY.

http://www.aidesign.com/shop/index.p...products_id=14

They make a carpeted & carbon fiber version of the Bose enclosure with a JL Audio sub included.

They've been discussed on the various Porsche boards regarding their V1 product.

Its a little pricey but it does come with the JL subwoofer which is one of the best subs money can buy (MUCH better than Bose), its carpeted or carbon fibered, and their product quality is supposed to be very good so the box should fit nicely.

Ooops, Just saw that Newport found the link!

Hey Neil!

You have the Reus system. Could you provide a pic of where the opening in the trunk space is?

I wanted to use the same port for my own subwoofer solution.

Neil, don't worry, your system kicks *** compared to a single JL DVC 10 in a sealed enclosure like the one being discussed. Your 8" is in a sealed enclosure and gives you probably the best midbass I have ever heard in a car. I *****ed and moaned about the lack of midbass to Rick until he finally came out with the 8" option. Your 10" sub also puts out much more bass than a single 10 in a sealed enclosure as well due to it's ported design. Ported subs are very efficient and have tremendous output while sacrificing accuracy. Overall, this sub is no substitute for a Reus system. For you non Reus guys, it does sound like a nice simple way to upgrade your system especially if you have the pre-'02 996 without bose.

BTW Neil, when are you going to pull the trigger on a 997S cab? You won't be sorry!!!
