Cost of a brake job?
Cost of a brake job?
Just wondering, i called my local dealera and got a quote for new brakes. Quoted over the phone at $1050? Pretty sure i just need new pads, which i would like to switch out to a street/track pad.
1st question: $1050? For just pads?
2nd question: Type of pad? Its about a 50/50 split for the car, street and track.
Thanks, really appreciate the feed back.

Changing your own brakes, even if you require new rotors, is *very* simple. I recently swapped the fronts to the Hawk HP+'s and rears to factory pads. Due to wear on the front rotors, I also got new rotors. About an hour and a half to do the whole thing. IIRC, I spent less than 400 on the whole thing buying the factory parts from Suncoast and the HP+'s from somewhere else.

Jack car up
Take wheel off
Take brake filler cap off, surround it with a towel to prevent overspill
Remove cotter pin. Push down on metal clamp and slide doll out
Clap on old pads and caliper to open
Slip in new pads
That's all it takes..

Its VERY easy...Brembo brakes are made to be very easy to swap....just did mine recently, pads from the dealer were about $250 front and rear including sensors...

that's waaaay too much for a 1 hour (tops) job. 900 bucks is too much for pads, don't you think? if it includes rotors then it's a different story.
do it once and you'll find that it very easy. it takes me 10 minutes per corner to change out pads. you should just get dedicated track pads (pagid yellow rs19 is excellent and long lasting) and a street set.
it helps if you have the right tools too. i use a proper jack, cordless impact wrench for the wheel bolts and channel lock pliers dipped in plasti-dip to retract the pads/pistons.
